Equine Vet Skills Clinic Rules

Important Starting Info:
Due to the increased risk and logistics involved with horse classes, students will need preapproval to sign up, and the registration process will be different than the other classes. Preapproval will be based on their conduct in at least 1 prior Vetward class, and parents will be notified by email if eligible to sign up.

Registration Process

Sign up interested and preapproved students using link below these rules

Wait for email response regarding class availability

Registration will be done for you once availability is confirmed​

You will receive an email notifying of registration

Equine waiver forms and payment submission for class must be done within 24 hrs of being registered to keep spot

There will be 2 separate equine specific waivers that need to be done (1 for the farm location and 1 for Vetward)

Waitlist
Full clinics will maintain a waitlist. If a last-minute cancellation occurs, we will attempt to fill the spot from the waitlist.
Cancellation Policy
Due to limited clinic spots and the logistics involved, we will be strictly enforcing our cancellation policy.

Cancel at least 6 hours before class: You will receive credit for the amount paid, toward a future class. (No monetary refunds will be issued.)

Cancel less than 6 hours before class: No credit or refund will be issued.

Clinic Cancellation by Vetward

Clinics may be cancelled only for hazardous weather, unsafe road conditions, or unexpected illness. Rain or normal seasonal temperatures will not result in cancellation. Please come prepared for the weather.

Clinics require a minimum of 3 participants. If fewer than 3 are registered, the clinic will be rescheduled.
Basic Clinic Info

Length: 3 hours (expect to be on your feet for this entire time)

Price per student: $120

Maximum participants per clinic: 5

Barn will not be climate controlled. Come prepared.

Registered Participation Only

Only registered students may enter the instruction area during clinic time.
-
No spectators are permitted. This is a drop-off class.
Authorized Areas
Participants (and anyone dropping them off) must remain in authorized areas only:

Parking area

Barn

Designated restrooms
No wandering around other parts of the facility.
Behavior Expectations
For safety and equipment protection, students must follow all instructions.
If a student cannot follow rules or directions:

They will be removed from the activity.

No refund or credit will be provided.
Required Clothing
Students must wear:
-
Closed-toed shoes (boots recommended but not required; no high heels)
-
Pants
-
Weather-appropriate layers and an outer jacket (barn is unheated)
Students may NOT wear:
-
Loose/flowy, oversized clothing (long scarves, oversized jackets, wearable blankets)
If a student arrives without closed-toe shoes or pants, they may not participate and no refund or credit will be issued.
Hair & Jewelry
To reduce risk of injury:

Long hair must be tied back.

Jewelry should be limited:
No dangling earrings, long necklaces worn outside clothing, bracelets, or large/excessive rings.
Food, Drinks & Gum​

No outside food or gum allowed.

A water bottle is permitted.
Cell Phones
Cell phones create unnecessary distraction. They must remain in a pocket or bag and used only when reasonable.

Personal Belongings
Limit personal belongings to a minimum to keep from cluttering the work area. Students will be responsible for any personal belongings they bring.
Potential Risks
Working with live animals—and especially large animals—comes with inherent risks. We will teach safe handling methods and use appropriate tools and staff support to minimize these risks as much as possible.

Biosecurity
Anyone with exposure to horses or a horse facility within 30 days of the class date, will need to clean and disinfect any boots, jacket, gloves, etc. that were worn to prevent spreading communicable diseases. More info will be provided to those that this applies to.
